Myles couldn’t let go. He held onto Belinda so tightly, he thought he was going to break her. Belinda reciprocated by grabbing his shirt from behind and digging her nails into his flesh. Anything that had happened in the near or distant past meant nothing at the moment. All that mattered was that she was home and they were together. They stood in the foyer, embracing and kissing for what seemed like eternity, before finally releasing and staring into each other’s eyes.
“Will you ever forgive me?” he asked.
“I’ll always forgive you,” she answered back. “Just don’t ever give up on me like that again.. okay?”
“I was such a fool… I listened to other people instead of listening to my heart… I listened to doctors, I listened to psychiatrists… I even listened to…”
“Don’t say her name,” Belinda insinuated. “I don’t ever want to hear that woman’s name ever again.”
“I’m sorry… It’s just that I know.. how you girls feel about each other,” Myles said, sympathetically.
“Not any more… Charlotte’s gonna have to come up with something pretty Herculean for me to ever forgive her for what she did to me.”
“Maybe.. she was just looking out for you,” he suggested. Myles was completely in the dark about many Go-Go activities.
Especially about dead bodies buried in the back yards of certain houses. Like everyone else in the world, he would never find out about Anton Khudobin.
Belinda whirled around.
“Are you aware that she’s still in love with you?” she asked.
“What?”
“Yeah, that’s right,” Belinda continued. “You weren’t there when she came into my room a few nights ago.. acting like a crazy-woman… Telling me how she was gonna move in here and replace me… Telling me that she had the power to keep me in that fucking hospital until I turned into a vegetable…”
Belinda started to cry. She moved in and embraced Myles.
“It was horrible… It was like she was possessed… I was so scared.”
“There, there, baby… You’re safe now… You’re home.. with me… and everything’s gonna be alright,” Myles soothed.
“Oh, Myles.. What am I gonna do? I love her so much.. But, I can’t deal with her and her sickness… We never know what she’s gonna do next… We’re all so scared.”
Myles was confused.
“Sickness? What sickness?” he asked.
Belinda pulled away.
“There’s something I have to tell you about Charlotte.”
